Seven common causes of endometrial hyperplasia
Endometrial hyperplasia is a so common disease that it can occur at any age of women, puberty, reproductive period, late perimenopausal period, even postmenopausal period. Though it is not an untreatable malignant disease (it can be cured by both surgery and medicine like fuyan pill), it has certain risk of cancerization. Therefore, great attention should be paid to its prevention and treatment. And in this article, I will introduce some common reasons for endometrial hyperplasia.
1. Improper birth control pills
Women should be cautious in choosing birth control pills. Birth control pills without lutein can be the cause of disordered estrogen. And the disordered estrogen can induce ovarian dysfunction. As a result, the long-term use of this kind of pills can cause endometrial hyperplasia. In addition, if a woman takes long-term health care products rich in estrogen, she also runs the risk of thickened endometrium.
2.Chronic diseases
Some chronic diseases can cause anovulation. Under this circumstance, the endometrium is affected by estrogen persistently, causing hyperplasia.
3.Late menopause
Late menopause means the woman gets her menopause over 55 years old. Oestrone is the main estrogen of postmenopausal women. When the endometrium is affected by the oestrone without the antagonist of progesterone for a long time, endometrial hyperplasia can occur.
4.Diabetes and high blood pressure
Both diseases have a relatively large risk of inducing endometrial hyperplasia. The reason lies in that diabetes patients suffer metabolic disturbance while hypertension patients have a high fat diet and other bad habits, and these can induce abnormal hormone secretion, causing thickened endometrium.
5.Obesity
Obese women contain a larger percentage of fat which is considered as a main sources of estrogen. The specific process is: the androstenedione secreted by adrenal gland would be turned to oestrone. The fatter a woman is, the stronger the transfer ability is and the higher the amount of oestrone in plasma is. Consequently, the oestrone level increases. And this will bring persistent effect to the endometrium, causing endometrial hyperplasia.
6.Endocrine functional tumor
The endocrine functional tumor is a rare tumor, which accounts for 7.5% of all the causes of endometrial hyperplasia. It is induced by the disordered gonadotropic function of pituitary gland. For example, the granulose cell tumor of ovary is a kind of endocrine functional tumor, which is secreting estrogen persistently.
7.Drugs
Drugs like Tamoxifen TAM have the antiestrogenic effect, so it can be used for postmenopausal patients with advanced breast cancer. However, the long-term use of TAM can cause the endometrial hyperplasia.
