Endometriosis: Negative Effects of Night Shifts

Endometriosis, in short, is the abnormal presence of functional endometrial tissue outside the uterus. Endometrial cells, supposed initially to grow in the uterine cavity, are formed in abnormal locations. A study in the United States found that women with infertility often work night shifts,  which may be the major causes of increased risk of endometriosis.

According to an article published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, nearly 1 in 10 women of childbearing age suffers from recurrent pain and the risk of infertility, which makes endometriosis the third leading cause of gynecological diseases requiring hospitalization.

A population-based case-control study reported that 48% of endometriosis is caused by various kinds of a night shift. There has also been evidence that endometriosis is associated with the recycling of steroids. Night shifts inhibit the secretion of melatonin because melatonin can inhibit estrogen activity in the breast glands and reduce the activity of ammonia (which can be used as an inhibitor to lower estrogen levels).

Long-term night work in women will change the activity of ammonium luminate in the body but also lead to increased estrogen levels, which may lead to increased risk of endometriosis. In this article, researchers conducted a large number of studies to determine whether frequent night shifts increased the risk of endometriosis in premenopausal women.

The survey was aimed at a large number of people, including 89400 women without endometriosis as a primary survey, and 2062 patients diagnosed by laparoscopy were followed up for 16 years. Generally speaking, there is no significant relationship between long-term night shift and endometriosis. Researchers also found that if the subjects were categorized according to whether they were infertile or not, the situation was different.

Compared with women who did not work at night, women with infertility and who worked at night for more than five years had an increased risk of endometriosis. On the contrary, for women with fertility, long-term night work is not necessarily associated with endometriosis.

According to the findings of the survey, for women who work night shifts for more than five years, if they have infertility at the same time, their risk of endometriosis will increase. But the researchers also pointed out that the relationship between long-term night shift and endometriosis and infertility is more complicated.

For the treatment of endometriosis, there are drug treatment and surgical treatment. It is suggested that patients should go to the regular gynecological hospital as soon as possible for examinations. Experts will formulate an appropriate treatment plan according to the patient's condition so as to avoid missing the best fertility time.

In the early stage, Fuyan Pill can also be used as a natural medicine for treatment, and you can still have a high possibility of getting a cure. In some severe cases, surgical treatment is needed. If endometriosis can not be cured in time, it may affect reduce the chances of getting pregnant in patients. Diet should be light, nutritious, and easily digestible, you need to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits. A healthy lifestyle can improve the condition of the disease to a certain extent. I wish you recover soon!
