How Effective is Turmeric for Treating Salpingitis?
Fallopian tubes are the reproductive organs that connect a woman's ovaries and uterus. They are functioned to transfer fertilized eggs from the ovaries to the uterus for implantation.
Fallopian tubes are the main sites of pelvic inflammatory diseases, mostly occurring in women with active intercourse and menstruation. It rarely happens before misophonia, after menopause, or in women without marriage. Even if it occurs, it often manifests as the spread of inflammation in the adjacent organs.
It can lead to infertility, tubal pregnancy, chronic pelvic pain, recurrent inflammation, and other sequelae due to pelvic adhesion and fallopian tube blockage without timely and correct treatments. Salpingitis is caused by pathogen infections, mainly staphylococcus, streptococcus, Escherichia coli, gonococcus, proteus, pneumococcus, chlamydia, and other pathogens, and salpingitis can be divided into acute salpingitis and chronic salpingitis. The latter is more common in infertile women.
Salpingitis usually refers to the inflammation of the human fallopian tubes, often accompanied by lower abdominal pain, abnormal menstruation, dysmenorrhea, and other phenomena. Salpingitis may cause tubal wall adhesion, congestion, edema, and obstruction, resulting in infertility.
Is turmeric effective in salpingitis?
Antibacterial substances in ginger are mainly turmeric and volatile oil, which can significantly inhibit fungus. Eating ginger can provide the body with anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effects.
Turmeric is extracted from the Chinese herbal plant turmeric. It is spicy and warm in properties, promoting blood circulation and qi circulation, stimulating menstruation flow, and alleviating pain. turmeric can also help promote stagnant menstrual blood in the uterus to improve dysmenorrhea. A randomized, double-blind test in a study “Effect of Curcumin (Turmeric) Capsule on the Severity and Duration of Dysmenorrhea” published in Research Gate suggested that turmeric effectively reduced the severity and duration of pain caused by dysmenorrhea.
A study “Curcumin Arrests Endometriosis by Downregulation of Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 Activity” published in the Indian journal of Biochemistry & Biophysics suggested that turmeric can inhibit the occurrence and development of endometriosis and improve related infertility by affecting the growth, proliferation, apoptosis, migration, invasion, inflammatory response, angiogenesis, estrogen synthesis and other aspects of ectopic endometrial cells.
In addition, it was shown in the research results of a study “Inhibitory Effect of Curcumin on Uterine Leiomyoma Cell Proliferation” published in Gynecological Endocrinology that turmeric inhibited ELT-3 cell proliferation by activating PPARγ and inhibiting mitochondrial ATP-sensitive potassium channels, thus promoting the apoptosis of the uterine myoma cells.
In summary, turmeric plays an auxiliary role in the treatment of salpingitis. But salpingitis cannot rely on this method. If you want to cure it, you can take the following measures:
1. General treatment. You can rest on the bed and adopt the semi-supine position to limit inflammation and prevent the upward spread of the inflammation. You should intake various nutrients, maintain water and electrolyte balance, and take antithermic and pain-relieving drugs when the diagnosis is confirmed.
2. Control infections. According to pathogenic microorganisms and drug sensitivity tests, you should choose effective antibiotics with adequate amounts and thorough anti-inflammation effects as far as possible.
3. Surgical treatment. For patients with salpingitis, immediate operation should be carried out to remove the lesions to prevent the rapid spread of inflammation and septicemia from endangering patients' life. In case of a pelvic abscess that has been limited, if there is a sense of fullness and undulation by touching the posterior fornix, feasible abscess incision and drainage, and fluid drainage can be carried out.
4. Herbal medicine treatment. Herbal medicine Fuyan Pill has the effect of clearing heat and detoxifying, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. It can eliminate gynecological tissue lesions, regulate menstruation, eliminate pain, and treat gynecological diseases and female infertility caused by inflammation.
