Does Alcohol Cause Testicular Atrophy?

It has become a common-sense that alcohol can cause damage to human stomach, liver, and other organs, but do you know that alcohol is particularly harmful to male genital organs?

A proper amount of alcohol can indeed relieve mental fatigue, make the brain in an exciting state, and thus play a role in stimulating sexual desire. Nevertheless, excessive or long-term drinking can lead to a decline in sex hormones, testicular atrophy, which is manifested by reduced ability to arouse sexual pleasure, reduced number of orgasms.

In another study published in 2011, the new study on male fertility concluded that men who regularly drink have lower sperm motility and attention, and less chance of fertilization. Alcohol is a gonadal toxic substance, which can directly act on the testis, reduce the secretion of male hormones, and kill sperm.

A foreign survey found that if the average daily drinking more than two bottles of beer, semen quality will be significantly reduced. Alcohol can damage germ cells and reduce the quality of fertilized eggs. Pregnancy after drinking can cause fetal growth retardation, slow reaction, and mental retardation.

Alcoholic beverages contain a lot of sugar. Excessive sugar intake can lead to hormonal imbalances, insulin resistance, infections, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and reduced immunity, thereby reducing fertility. All of these may impair the fertility of men and women.

Survey data showed that among chronic alcoholism patients, testicular atrophy accounted for 65%, impotence accounted for 17%-38%, and hypersexual desire accounted for 34%-65%. At the same time, because the sexual function is controlled by the central nervous system, dopamine secreted by the brain can cause sexual desire, but alcohol can inhibit the production of dopamine in the brain, so many men will have a phenomenon of decreased sexual desire after drinking.

The sperm quality of long-term alcoholic drinkers decreased significantly. In particular, 56% of men with alcoholism had signs of infertility. Once chronic alcoholism occurs, testicular atrophy will occur, resulting in a decline in semen quality. Studies have found that it takes at least three months of conditioning to recover to the pre-intoxication state.

In addition, if orchitis is not treated for a long time, the long-term existence of inflammation will also cause testicular atrophy, damage to spermatogenic testicular tissue, but also cause the reduction of testicular volume. If the patient's testis or scrotum has been impacted before, it will cause scrotal edema or testicular laceration, even if the disease is cured, it will also lead to atrophy.

Testicular atrophy caused by orchitis can be treated, but the premise is that there is no necrosis of the important tissue of the testis. The treatment of testicular atrophy caused by orchitis can be treated with herbal medicine Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill, which is mostly based on promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, clearing away heat and detoxification.

It can also help patients recover the vitality of non-necrotic tissues in testis, unblock the obstruction and kill bacterially infected testis, inhibit the reproduction of bacteria and improve testicular autoimmunity so that patients can produce healthy sperm and restore male fertility. What' more, it will not produce any drug resistance and any side effects.

Experts believe that men with fertility plans should not plan to have babies until at least three months after they are drunk, so as to ensure the health of the fetus. If you know you have a drinking problem, it's time to face it. If you have developed a regular drinking habit, especially if you drink more than five times a week or more, it may be very difficult to quit drinking. You need the help of family, friends, and your health care doctor or counselor. Quitting alcohol can not only increase your overall fertility but also contribute to your long-term health.
