Prostatitis: Some Dietary Recommendations for Prostate Health

Prostatitis is a common disease in urology, and it occupies the first place in male patients under the age of 50 in urology. Despite the high incidence of prostatitis, its etiology remains unclear. Dietary management is essential to prevent or relieve prostatitis, in addition to seeing a doctor and taking medicines.

Here are some dietary recommendations for maintaining a healthy prostate in men:

1. Eating less spicy food

Stimulant foods such as chili, raw garlic, pepper, mustard, pepper, ginger, and spicy hot pot can cause vasodilation and organ congestion. For patients with prostatitis, it is best not to eat.

2. Limiting fat intake

The risk of prostate cancer may be increased in men who eat high-fat foods. Some studies have pointed out that high animal fat in the diet is a significant risk factor for prostate cancer. Reducing the intake of fat and oil can also reduce some compounds that cause inflammation of the prostate. Patients should reduce their daily fat intake to <20% of total calories to reduce the incidence of prostate cancer.

3. Supplementation of protein and essential fatty acids

Amino and fatty acids are necessary for the composition and secretion of prostate cells and prostaglandins, so pay attention to protein supplements, such as milk, lean meat, marine fish, seaweed and nuts, and foods rich in essential fatty acids. Soybeans and their products are the best foods to prevent prostate cancer.

Researchers have found that Japanese people have low breast and prostate cancer rates because of the high amount of soy products in their diets.

Soy milk is an alkaline food with high protein and low cholesterol, activating the lymphatic system and enhancing human immunity. At the same time, soy milk contains phytoestrogens, which have a specific effect on the treatment of prostate cancer.

4. Proper vitamin supplementation

Vitamin A, E, and C can scavenge free radicals and protect cells near the prostate from injury. Cholesterol in the skin can be converted into vitamin D by sunlight, and vitamin D can inhibit the growth of prostate cancer. Egg yolk, butter, liver, and fish oil are good sources of vitamin D.

Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, rapeseed oil, and corn oil are good sources of vitamin E, reducing prostate cancer incidence when vitamin E and lycopene coexist. Men can take special dietary foods to supplement high-quality protein, multiple vitamins, and minerals comprehensively.

5. Some other foods that are good for prostate health

Red bean is a diuretic to reduce swelling, mung bean clears heat and detoxifies, and red jujube invigorates the Qi. Apple is a healthy fruit. Studies have found that long-term consumption of apples can prevent and treat chronic prostate diseases in men. The zinc content in apples is very high. Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, which has the effect of protecting the prostate. Green tea also has a specific impact on the prevention and treatment of prostate cancer.

Dietary conditioning is of great significance to the protection of prostate health. In addition to paying attention to diet, men should take good care of their prostate health through a good lifestyle, moderate exercise, and timely and effective psychological adjustment to effectively reduce the incidence of various prostate diseases.
