Treatment guide

Principle of treatment

The treatment plan should be based on the severity of the symptoms, the degree of distress and the patient's preference in the MLUTS/BPH patients, inform the patient about the risks and benefits associated with the treatment, and involve the patient in the development of the treatment plan.

For patients with mild symptoms (such as IPSS < 7), it is recommended to change lifestyle and wait for observation. If the symptoms are mild and the patient is seriously afflicted, further examination is required.

Lifestyle changes include:

(1) Control fluid intake, especially before going to bed.

(2) Avoid eating caffeinated beverages, alcohol and spicy foods.

(3) Avoid using certain drugs (such as congestion relievers, antihistamines, antidepressants, etc.).

(4) Bladder retraining.

(5) pelvic floor muscle training.

(6) keep regular defecation.
