Chronic Prostatitis—Can It Heal By Itself? Can Patients Have Sex?

Chronic prostatitis is a common disease in urology. It has a high incidence among men, and patients will have varying degrees of dysuria and sexual dysfunction. The leading cause is irregular sex life and prolonged sitting. So can patients with chronic prostatitis heal themselves? Can men have a normal sex life after suffering from prostatitis?

Can chronic prostatitis heal itself?

Whether chronic prostatitis can heal itself depends on the inflammation. Chronic prostatitis is a common disease in urology and is a self-limiting disease. It is more common in young and middle-aged men. Patients may heal themselves after the age of prone illness by changing their eating habits and adjusting their schedules.

Patients with chronic prostatitis should quit smoking and drinking, avoid spicy food, stay up late, sit for a long time, and be tired. They should maintain a regular sex life and eat more fruits and vegetables.

Patients with chronic prostatitis cannot expect prostatitis to heal itself without any treatment. Prostatitis often causes sexual dysfunction, such as loss of libido, impotence, premature diarrhea, excessive spermatorrhea, blood sperm, painful ejaculation, etc. Decreased secretion of prostatic fluid will lead to the decrease of semen and the increase of viscosity. The fluid takes a long time after discharge, which affects the survival and vitality of sperm.

Bacteria, viruses, and inflammatory secretions in the prostatic fluid can consume oxygen and nutrients in semen and threaten the survival of sperm. Most of the infectious bacteria in prostatitis are Escherichia coli and Mycoplasma, which can cause sperm aggregation and decrease vitality. The number of sperm decreases, but abnormal sperm increases. In prostatitis, the concentration of zinc decreases, and sperm motility decreases.

If chronic prostatitis is not treated, chronic prostatitis itself will not be cured, and the treatment of chronic prostatitis needs to be timely. If it is delayed, it will affect the normal life and work of the patient, affect sexual function and health, and cause many complications.

Chronic prostatitis is more often treated with drugs, such as herbal medicine Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill. It has the effects of clearing away heat, detoxifying, diuresis, and dredging and can reduce inflammation and sterilization. Herbal medicine needs to be used consistently, which can slowly regulate the body and strengthen the physique.

According to the clinical results, no case of chronic prostatitis is self-healing. Therefore, patients with chronic prostatitis must pay attention to the treatment and actively cooperate with the doctor.

Can patients with prostatitis have sex?

The most common clinical prostatitis is chronic non-bacterial prostatitis, and patients can usually have sex. However, suppose it is chronic prostatitis caused by some particular pathogens such as chlamydia, Mycoplasma, etc. In that case, it is recommended that patients do not have sex or wear condoms when they have sex.

Scientific research has proved that the onset of chronic prostatitis is related to psychological factors and will not directly cause male sexual dysfunction. Still, it may indirectly affect male sexual function through psychological factors.

For patients with chronic prostatitis, if the symptoms are not severe and do not affect their normal life, treatment is not required, and it is enough to improve symptoms, restore function and improve the quality of life.

In daily life, men must quit smoking and drinking, avoid the intake of spicy and irritating food, avoid unclean sex life and sexual behavior, and maintain regular sexual exercise. Men can relieve the pain through warm water baths or hot compresses. In addition, men can take antibacterial drugs or anti-inflammatory drugs such as Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill to eliminate bacteria, control infections, and relieve symptoms.
