Can You Have Prostatitis for Years and Not Know?

Chronic prostatitis is a common disease in male urology. According to the National Institutes of Health, prostatitis may account for 25% of all outpatient visits involving the genital and urinary systems in young and middle-aged men. It generally occurs when a patient's sudden onset of acute prostatitis is not controlled or completely cured, which in turn causes recurrent irritation and infection in the prostate area.

It mainly includes chronic bacterial prostatitis and chronic nonbacterial prostatitis. In fact, some patients have symptoms, while others with chronic bacterial prostatitis develop symptoms many years after the onset of the disease.

As a frequently-occurring disease for males, Chronic prostatitis can have several typical clinical symptoms. These clinical symptoms vary from person to person and manifest in various signs and intricate syndromes. A common symptom is the pain centered on the prostate and radiating to the surrounding tissues, commonly in the scrotum, testicles, lower abdomen, perineum, lumbosacral area, and medial aspect of the bone.

In addition, it is often combined with symptoms related to urination, such as frequent urination, urgent urination, painful urination, burning sensation in the urethra, and white or thin discharge from the urethra during stool. If the various symptoms do not improve for a long time, they may also cause neurological symptoms, such as dizziness, tinnitus, insomnia, and excessive dreaming. Even impotence, premature ejaculation, seminal emission, etc., may occur.

However, many patients do not notice any symptoms or discomfort. When they undergo routine prostate fluid testing, the test data shows that they have excessive white blood cells in their prostate fluid or a slight weight loss of lecithin. Such indicators suggest that they have prostatitis. Asymptomatic prostatitis occasionally has persistent slight abdominal and perineal pain, sticky discharge from the urethra, and causes sexual dysfunction. Sometimes it may be due to bad habits, including irritation from smoking and alcohol, and a sedentary lifestyle that leads to bladder irritation symptoms.

Therefore, when suffering from chronic prostatitis without typical symptoms, patients can observe without taking medication for a while. They should develop healthy habits, such as exercising more, avoiding late nights, going to bed early, and waking up early. Besides, they should eliminate smoking, drinking, and stimulating foods. Through the regulation of diet and habits, chronic prostatitis can be greatly improved.

The diagnosis of chronic prostatitis is often challenging. Sometimes, it's hard to find bacteria in the urine of patients. But the patients developed some symptoms of prostatitis, such as pelvic pain for at least a few months or persistent pain around the genitals. Patients should pay attention to whether they have interstitial cystitis, easily be confused with prostatitis. Since the course of the disease is long, doctors generally recommend 4 to 12 weeks or longer of antibiotics and other pain treatments.

In addition, if patients are concerned about the side effects of antibiotics, they can take patented traditional Chinese medicine Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill. This traditional Chinese medicine has the main results of clearing heat and detoxifying, activating blood, and relieving pain, being diuresis and drenching.

It can also kill bacteria and inflammation well. Because the ingredients are all herbal, they have no toxins or side effects. As a result, it can not only improve the local symptoms of patients with prostatitis but also benefit the maintenance of the whole body.
