To Drink or Not to Drink: Alcohol Consumption for Patients with Cystitis Glandularis

Cystitis glandularis is a rare non-neoplastic inflammatory lesion with simultaneous epithelial proliferation and metaplasia. The process is that epithelial hyperplasia invaginates into the Brunn’s nest, fannies appear in it to form branching and annular lumen, and glandular structure forms in the central area due to epithelial metaplasia with the simultaneous existence of the infiltration of lymphocytes and plasma cells, so it is called cystitis glandularis.

Alcohol

The causes of cystitis glandularis are not very clear at present; most may have a connection with chronic inflammation of the bladder, stones, obstruction, and other diseases.

Cystitis glandularis is mainly manifested as a series of symptoms, such as recurrent and intractable frequency of urination, the urgency of urination, pain in urine, hematuria, discomfort in the upper pubis area, and the perineal region, abdominal swelling, urinary incontinence, and painful intercourse. The most common sites of lesions are the trigone of the bladder, the neck of the bladder and areas near the ureteral orifice.

Can patients with cystitis glandularis drink alcohol?

Cystitis glandularis is caused by epithelial hyperplasia of the bladder mucosa, which can lead to symptoms of frequent urination, urgent urination, and painful urination. Drinking alcohol can aggravate the inflammatory response of cystitis glandularis and worsen the inflammation, aggravating the symptoms of frequent urination, urgent urination, and painful urination.

Besides, cystitis glandularis is easy to cause congestion, ulceration, and hyperplasia of the bladder mucosa, and alcohol will stimulate the bladder mucosa to aggravate the symptoms of bladder congestion, which is not conducive to the rehabilitation of cystitis glandularis.

Moreover, for patients with cystitis glandularis, drinking alcohol can lead to congestion in the bladder walls, resulting in the decline of body resistance, which affects the treatment of the disease.

Drinking alcohol for a long time will affect physical health and reduce resistance, resulting in the recurrence of cystitis, thus causing the recurrence of drug resistance reactions, which seriously affects patients' quality of life. In addition, alcohol will consume many nutrients in the process of being metabolized by the human body, which is not conducive to the recovery of the disease.

How should cystitis glandularis be treated?

Cystitis glandularis is due to chronic bladder inflammation, resulting in bladder mucosa lesions, thus resulting in follicular hyperplasia. The best way to treat cystitis glandularis is to do a transurethral electrotomy of the bladder mucosa and then bladder perfusion of chemotherapy drugs to prevent a recurrence, which is relatively safe.

Cystitis glandularis is a precancerous lesion requiring surgical treatment. cystitis glandularis is a rare, hyperplastic lesion of the bladder mucosa with unknown causes. Most scholars believe that it is due to the residual embryo's development and the bladder mucosa's epithelial metaplasia.

The clinical symptoms are complex, and they maydevelop into adenocarcinoma. Therefore, it is gaining so more and more attention in clinical medicine. Partial cystectomy and ureterovesical reimplantation are generally undergone to treat hydrops of the upper urinary tract or papillomatosis lesions involving the ureteral opening.

Cystitis glandularis can also be treated with drugs. Patients can choose antibiotics for treatment. Going to the hospital for a professional examination should be the first choice, and the doctor will prescribe antibacterial drugs through bacterial culture.

Patients with cystitis glandularis can also choose herbal medicine for treatment. It is believed in TCM that the occurrence of cystitis is related to the dysfunction of the liver and spleen. Therefore, treatments should focus on clearing heat, freeing strangury, and clearing dampness and heat for integral conditioning and treatments. The Diuretic and Anti-inflammatory Pill is an effective herbal medicine that facilitates urination and releases strangury.

At the same time, patients with cystitis glandularis must pay attention to diet, work and rest habits, and medication care.
